rust removal

Humidity during the warmer months can increase the chances of rust.

Metal parts are vulnerable to rusting, and this is especially true during the warmer months of the year, when they are exposed to humidity. That is why Vibra Finish recommends that its clients take advantage of its rust removal services during the summer, when humidity can be a consequential factor on metal quality.

Rust removal is just one of the many services that Vibra Finish offers in its portfolio of vibratory finishing abilities, but it is an important one.

Exposure leads to corrosion

When iron, steel, and other metal types are exposed to heavy moisture in the air, the atoms combine to create a rust substance that eats away at the outer layer of the metal. Even stainless steel, which is notably corrosion-resistant, is not completely rust-proof; rust can gradually erode the protective chromium oxide layer around it. When metal parts are neglected and accumulate rust over a period of time, this can have a detrimental effect on their performance – leading to lost productivity and efficiency. That is why derusting remains a popular and necessary finishing service, especially when humid weather is a factor.

Vibra Finish’s rust removal service is similar to rust inhibiting, in that they both remove all the rust from the component, but the former does not have any effect on the other exposed metal or their tolerances. Environmentally friendly rust inhibitors are typically applied to the metal part for protection following the rust removal process, using no harsh acids and leaving no powder residue. The full process also includes an industrial wash. As a result, all parts wind up clean, dry, and rust-protected.

Rust removal and rust inhibiting are always performed with a quick turnaround at Vibra Finish. The company accommodates all shapes and sizes, packaging them according to every client’s specifications. Deburring, burnishing, descaling, polishing, peening, and corrosion protection are also available.

This summer, rely on Vibra Finish to keep industrial metals in the best condition possible.
