Two views of a Versa-Matic Fusion integrated-plate Teflon diaphragm

York Fluid Controls Ltd. offers a broad selection of air-operated double-diaphragm (AODD) pumps for Canadian businesses from a variety of international manufacturers, such as Versa-Matic Pumps. The lineup also includes various pump parts and accessories, like diaphragms. For example, Versa-Matic manufactures the unique Fusion brand of long-life, integrated-plate Teflon diaphragms for its diaphragm pumps.

The Fusion series goes well beyond bonding PTFE and rubber. This Versa-Matic diaphragm line also melds the outer diaphragm plate into the design used in all markets, including chemicals, paint/solvents, and food processing.

Greater displacement per cycle

With this exclusive bonding process, Fusion integrated-plate diaphragms are stronger and longer-lasting than tradition designs tend to be. This exclusive melding technology comes with many significant advantages, including the following: extended flex life; better performance; greater displacement per cycle; elimination of leak paths; easy installation and maintenance; smooth, sanitary design; and fewer parts, which results in lower inventory expenses.

Built for use in the majority of Versa-Matic pumps, Fusion integrated-plate diaphragms are available from York Fluid Controls in five sizes – ½ an inch, one inch, 1½ inches, two inches, or three inches. The excellent service life of these units extends the mean time between every failure, while the smaller amount of parts reduces the inventory and model complexity. The simple spin-on design lowers downtime during repair as well.

The Fusion integrated-plate diaphragm is made up of several basic features. Its unique concave shape provides unmatched service life, high suction lift, and lower startup pressure. The deflection ridges ward off flex points while eliminating radial “wagon wheel” cracking, and the backing ribs sustain and guide the flex of the diaphragm for longer operational life and lower cavitation on suction stroke. The spin-on, spin-off design requires no torque specifications; the user needs only to hand-tighten the unit. And the oversized integrated plate supports almost half of the diaphragm through the whole dynamic motion stroke.

Fusion diaphragms are available from stock through York.
