Vaughan conditioning pumps are available from John Brooks Company.

John Brook Company Limited carries myriad fluid-control solutions, including conditioning pumps manufactured by Vaughan. These are submersible chopper pumps that are mounted on portable stands and fitted with high-velocity mixing nozzles. Among the relevant applications for these pumps are lift-station, basin, influent-station, channel, and holding-tank conditioning, plus digester clean-out/homogenization.

Usable for multiple applications at one worksite, plant, or municipality, Vaughan conditioning pumps recirculate the contents of the wet well, chopping and mixing to produce a homogeneous mixture that is easier to pump out.

Various nozzle configurations available

These chopper pumps remove floating mats while re-suspending solids accumulated on the floor. The pumps are mounted on a portable stand, which boosts their versatility. With as little as 7½ horsepower, Vaughan conditioning pumps can mix wet wells of up to 12,000 gallons, and their portable configuration comes complete with a stand for simpler installation. Standard products measure three-to-six inches with motor horsepower from five to 40 and flows from 400 to 1,800 gallons per minutes; John Brooks Company also offers larger models with higher flow rates.

Vaughan submersible chopper pumps condition tank contents to prevent plugging of standard non-clog pumps and help to protect downstream equipment. Various nozzle configurations are available, including straight, angled, double, and the manufacturer offers an exclusive non-clog performance guarantee. The paint systems are formulated specifically to withstand severe wastewater environments. Among the elements of these pumps and their materials of construction:

  • Impeller, upper cutter, cutter bar, and cutter nut: cast alloy steel, heat-treated to minimum Rockwell C 60.
  • Casing and bearing housing: ductile cast iron.
  • Mechanical seal: cartridge type with silicone carbide seal faces and stainless steel sleeve.
  • Thrust bearings: back-to-back angular contact ball-type.
  • Lubrication: ISO-grade 46 hydraulic oil.
  • Paint: epoxy.

Each submersible pump can suspend, mix, and homogenize a six-inch layer of grit buildup on a tank floor in mere minutes; surface matting is possible in five minutes. For a look at Vaughan conditioning pumps for sewage applications, watch the video below:
