The RMF varnish removal system from Wainbee

The wind-power industry offers a unique set of challenges – extreme work conditions, hard-to-access locations – that require reliable, efficient equipment. Wainbee Filtration can supply such equipment, including products by RMF Systems (a Des-Case brand). RMF manufactures a unique varnish removal system that removes oxidation by-products and prevents varnish formation during cool-down.

This is the most complete varnish removal and prevention system on the market today – recommended for use in general manufacturing, pulp and paper, power generation, steel, and mining.

Cleans systems efficiently without water

Varnish is a frequent issue for a broad variety of hydraulic fluids and lubricants, particularly in turbine and plastic injection moulding. It causes valve stiction, shorter fluid life, clogged system filters, and unnecessary downtime. Wear particles and moisture generates oxidation in liquid, which leads to varnish formation, as they react with hydraulic fluids, resulting in degradation and acid increase. The RMF varnish removal system is designed to prevent this problem.

This product blends extremely efficient varnish removal and oil-quality monitoring in one modular system. The filter unit serves as a kidney loop by circulating liquid through the filter media constantly, and the user can employ an oil-quality sensor to monitor oil degradation. The system can also be configured for applications with liquid volumes of up to 36,000 litres. It is compatible with all mineral oils, most synthetic oils, and phosphate esters. The filter cartridge is made of long fibre cellulose and polypropylene, while the housing is aluminum; other materials in the system include steel, Buna-N, FPM, and polyester.

The RMF varnish removal system from Wainbee removes both soluble and insoluble varnish contaminants, while prolonging oil health by reducing additive consumption. It also prevents servo valve sticking and efficiently cleans systems without adding water or other by-products. Specifications include the following:

  • Nominal flow: one litre per minute per cartridge.
  • Apparent dirt-holding capacity: 1.955 kilograms.
  • Water absorption: 2.6 litres.
  • Bypass opening pressure: 75½ pounds per square inch.
  • Pump safety valve: 217 pounds per square inch.
  • Fluid temperature: 20-80 degrees Celsius.
  • Outlet connection: ½ an inch BSPP female.
  • System seal: FPM.
