The company also has the capability to custom design cable, wire harness and related solutions for its North American customers through its Value-Added Business (VAB) located at the company’s Elgin, Ill. facility.

Custom capabilities

VAB brings together the installation and connectivity expertise of Harting’s technology group to produce custom-designed solutions, including cable and harness assemblies to carry power, control signals, embedded processor I/O, Ethernet communications, data pulses and more. Its capabilities range from short assemblies for electrical enclosures to 300-foot multipurpose cables for wind turbine down-tower applications. These assemblies can include hybrid connectors, mounting brackets, exotic insulation, flexible conduit or pigtail leads.

The company utilizes automated cable processing equipment at its state-of-the art, 110,000-square-foot facility to adapt to its customers’ special production needs. This, combined with Harting’s extensive hand tool and manual assembly area, allows it to handle quick turnaround, prototype production, and long production run orders for volume orders. 

And, like all of Harting’s solutions, quality is a priority. The company’s VAB quality assurance team constantly monitors and improves processes to achieve zero defects on all of its products.

Additional details

A full service engineering team supports customers with everything from free hand conceptual sketches to fully documented engineering drawings and bill of materials. Field application support, cost reduction engineering and reverse engineering services are also available.
