ELS recommended a vacuum tube lifter to help a company with metal sinks.

Throughout its 48-year history, Engineered Lifting Systems & Equipment Inc. (ELS) has helped customers with many different lifting requirements. The ELS team uses its expertise to recommend appropriate lifting systems for a wide variety of lifting applications. For example, ELS recommended a vacuum tube lifter to a customer that was having trouble with shipments of stacked metal sinks.

Realizing higher production efficiency

The customer was receiving wholesale shipments of stacked metal sinks that needed to be unstacked, separated, inspected, placed into separate boxes, and then palletized for shipment to its distributors. Manual lifting was difficult for workers tasked with these handling operations. Typically, it took two workers to do this work, and they had difficulty to reach above-shoulder height to unstack the heavy sinks and manipulate the product through the process of inspection and packaging.

Worker injury and fatigue were issues motivating the company to find a safer and more ergonomic method for handling. In their search of solutions, the company requested ELS to guide them to the best lifting solution for their operations.

ELS recommended combining a Gorbel WSJ360 Work Station Jib Crane with an Anver Tube Lifter with an extended handle. Using this lifting system would allow only one worker to do the handling operations, saving the company labour costs. The Anver vacuum tube lifter was designed as an ergonomic lift-assist device for repetitive handling and high production use – just what the company needed!

The company purchased the system and has been benefiting from a more efficient, less labour-intensive way of handling its product. Additionally, the better handling operation has reduced product damage, yet another cost-savings benefit.
