The MPA-C valve terminal, by Festo

Festo has taken its industry-leading MPA-C valve terminal for food production and made it even better. The compact MPA-C, the centrepiece of Festo’s Clean Design product series, is ideally suited for food-processing applications in which complying with high hygienic standards is a necessity. The MPA-C is extremely easy to clean, and also extremely reliable and efficient. Faster cycle times are possible because the MPA-C can be mounted close to the pneumatic actuators, minimizing tubing lengths, which enhances airflow performance.

Space-saving as well as corrosion-resistant

This year, Festo has upgraded the MPA-C line by offering enhanced safety for exhaust air buildup when the non-return valve option is used in exhaust ducts 3 and 5 of the individual sub-bases. In addition, there is a new electrical outlet at the top and X lengths for the 25- and 44-pin connecting cables NEBV and NEBC.

One of this valve terminal’s many advantages is its high level of corrosion resistance. The MPA-C meets the IP69K and CRC4 class ratings, so that frequent, rigorous cleaning with corrosive agents does not wear it down. This also means that users do not have to house it in a control cabinet, but can keep it in the food-processing area, which saves a lot of space in work environments. Another benefit is its compact design, which enables users to mount it close to pneumatic actuators, thus improving airflow by minimizing tubing lengths.

Festo’s MPA-C valve terminal is strong enough to withstand high-pressure cleaning, cleaning foams, and harsh working environments with no effect on its performance. Cleaning agents can run off its housing surface design, which makes wash-downs much faster and easier, and the LEDs on the easily replaceable valves quicken troubleshooting as well.

The terminal’s outstanding pneumatic performance is largely due to the large airflow channels in the manifolds. Other notable features include: single, modular sub-bases for up to 32 valves or solenoid coils; NSF-H1 lubrication; FDA-certified material; and electrical interfaces that allow individualized configuration possibilities.
