Upgraded spray gun system spells savings for Exel North America customer

Exel North America recently introduced its Kremlin Rexson AVX Automatic Airmix Spray Guns, which are designed to offer major savings to its customers. One customer, Houston, Texas-based Mauser, has already seen improvements, resulting in major savings. 

Case in point

Mauser specializes in the manufacture and delivery of steel drums, with a focus on the holding and handling of dangerous products, especially in the chemical and petrochemical fields. Previously, the company used Exel North America’s ATX Automatic Airmix Spray Guns — a system that was installed back in 2001 — but it was time for an upgrade of the outdated system to enhance performance, improve paint mileage and deliver a quality finish.

Mauser’s goal was to save paint while coating its 55-gallon steel containers. And it was important that the new solution offer high transfer efficiency and finish quality, while increasing production.

The company enlisted the help of EAH Austin, the local Kremlin Rexson distributor, and Exel North America’s Systems group. The Kremlin Rexson equipment used in the installation includes: 18 AVX Automatic Airmix Spray Guns; eight 16-120 Flowmax Pumps; nine CTM Colour Changers; eight fluid management systems; one system controller; and two operator air panels.

With the upgraded system, the Kremlin Rexson AVX Automatic Spray Guns improved Mauser’s paint mileage by 15 per cent compared to the previous ATX automatic spray guns. The company’s paint mileage is approximately 35 drums per gallon.
