tubular locks

Capitol offers tubular cam locks in three series.

Capitol Industries Inc. makes and supplies a greater range and diversity of industrial security products than any other Canadian manufacturer does. Its families of tubular locks and switch locks are particularly useful in several applications, from recreational vehicles to automated teller machines. Another market for them is elevator control panels.

Three series of tubular locks are available, each with a different kind of terminal and a distinct design. They are also available in a switch-lock format.

An essential modern need

Elevator control panels are an essential need in the manufacturing world today, and Capitol conducts a large amount of business in this field. Elevators are nearly universal in office buildings, residential apartment complexes, and more. In modern buildings, virtually every elevator has a control panel with various buttons, often with braille text for blind users, for users to choose floors or to open and close the doors. Because safety can be a risk for users, elevators always have to be in proper working condition. Locks on control panels prevent non-professionals from interfering with the elevator function, while maintenance workers can access the controls with keys.

Tubular locks with switch-lock formats are very popularly used in elevator control panels. Capitol carries a wide range of tubular locks and single-pole switch locks with a tubular design; the latter can come with a variety of switch functions and terminal options. Of the three series of tubular locks, each has a different type of terminal and a different design.

Also called key switches or key-operated switches, switch locks are devices through which a user can operate an electrical switch by turning a key. These locks are typically used in applications that require restricted access to switch functions, for safety or security purposes, such as in elevator control panels. Capitol switch locks are rated at less than 50 volts for alternating current and under 75 volts for direct current for safety.

Capitol manufactures three series of switch locks: the S2D, S2DQ, and S2DS series. Each has up to 60,000 combinations, seven brass pins, and a chrome finish.
