tubular locking systems

Capitol tubular locks are highly recommended in coin-operated machines.

Capitol Industries Inc. is Canada’s premier source of industrial locking solutions, among them a variety of switch and tubular locking systems. These locks are a popular choice for elevator controls, automated teller machines, storage in recreational vehicles, and other applications in which locked products are left unattended for long periods of time.

Another common application for these locking systems is coin-operated machines, for which security is always a top priority.

Prevention of theft and vandalism

Coin-operated machines come in many varieties, from snack- or drink-vending equipment and fairground claw machines to arcade games and laundry machines. Dependable security on these machines is essential, in order to prevent theft and vandalism, since these machines always contain money from customers; some of them also contain merchandise that could be stolen. A reliable locking system can keep all money and goods secure, thus protecting revenue and profits for the business using the machine. Tubular locking systems are perfect for this application.

A wide range of tubular and switch locks are available from Capitol. There are three distinct series of tubular locking systems, and each has a different kind of terminal and three different designs. Locks can come keyed alike or different, and there are more than 60,000 key codes. Barrel lengths range from 11 to 30 millimetres (mm), while cam insets and offsets run from -½ to ½ an inch, and cam lengths go from ¾ to 2-3/8 inches.

Also known as key switches or key-operated switches, switch locks are systems through which turning a key operates an electrical switch. These are recommended for applications in which access to a switch function must be restricted because of safety or security. Each Capitol switch lock measures 22 mm in diameter at the key end and 18.85 by 16.6 mm at the plug end, while the total length of every lock (minus the plug) measures 37½ mm.

Tubular and switch locks make up just one of many varieties of specialty locks available from Capitol. Also available are drawer, mailbox, sliding door, and filing cabinet locks in various designs.
