The Lambda self-lubricating drive chain by Tsubaki

Tsubaki of Canada has earned a solid reputation for innovative chain products for decades. It was in 1988 that the company introduced its Lambda self-lubricating drive chain. More than 30 years later, this chain continues to prove itself as a long-lasting solution – now with more advanced manufacturing technology, material, and performance.

This drive chain can last 14 times longer than a standard non-lubricated chain, due in part to its metal oil-impregnated sintered bushing.

Solving many common issues

Easy to use, the Tsubaki Lambda chain can engage with standard single sprockets despite a width slightly larger than that of a standard chain, and it can operate in temperatures ranging from -10 to 150 degrees Celsius. One of its key advantages is that it needs no additional lubrication, which solves many common workplace issues:

  • No time for lubrication: Manual chain lubrication requires a lot of time, but with the Lambda, workers can perform other duties instead, boosting productivity.
  • Chains too high for lubing: Lubrication is sometimes neglected when the chain is too high or difficult to reach, leading to premature wear elongation. Using the Lambda eliminates this problem, making it ideal for these locations.
  • Difficulty in maintaining proper lubricated conditions: Non-uniform conveyor applications causes right- and left-side chains to wear and elongate differently, and lubricant must penetrate between outer plates, inner plates, and rollers. With the Lambda, the sintered bushes supply oil to maintain the lubricated state.
  • Unclean work environment: Manual chain lubrication attracts dust and debris, and lubricant can drip on the floor, but this self-lubricating drive chain solves this issue.
  • Contamination of food products: In food-processing applications, lubricant can potentially come into contact with products. The Lambda uses its own NSF H1-certified lube.
  • High noise levels: When standard chains run dry, they can make loud, grating noise when they run. But the Lambda option maintains its lubricated state, minimizing sound.

With all of these benefits, the Lambda chain has earned a wide-ranging reputation for meeting many business needs in a broad variety of industries and applications.
