Two series of pin gear drive units are available.

High-end chains and similar products are the reason why many manufacturers across the country turn to Tsubaki of Canada for the solutions they need. But the company also makes two series of pin gear drive units, the standard and S series, which serve as the ideal replacements for gear rack systems.

These drive units blend pin-structure wheels/racks and gears with special tooth profiles, offering greater freedom for designers of rotating or linear drive units.

High strength and wear resistance

Each of these pin gear drive units is a set consisting of a pin gear and a rack or pin wheel. The rotational drive has a pin wheel and pin gear, and the pin wheel’s diameter can be freely selected. The linear drive consists of a pin rack and pin gear, of which the pin-rack length can also be chosen freely. The pin gear on each unit has specially designed teeth that engage smoothly and constantly with roller; the teeth are hardened to boost strength and wear resistance. Tsubaki has based the tooth profile on an approximate involute to ensure that it can engage smoothly with the rack or pin wheel, and the profile’s unique design increases its strength.

The standard set is constructed of steel, and the S series is made of stainless steel, but both models have the same structure. They are recommended for reciprocation, rotation, and oscillation. Other benefits and features of these pin gear drive units:

  • Compatibility with large-scale equipment – As the wheel-type units are usable in large drive units by raising the amount of segments, so these units can be used in large-scale machinery.
  • Easy installation – Each unit has a separable-segment design to make installation simpler, and it can be used even with rough installation precision.
  • Large transmission torque – The pin gear has been designed in forgiving modules, and the good pin wheel/rack balance leads to higher transmission torque.
  • Wide variety of applications – The Tsubaki team offers these units in various materials – in steel, stainless steel, and surface-coated models – for different uses.
