cam clutch solutions

Cam clutches are available from Tsubaki.

For close to 50 years, Tsubaki of Canada products have benefited businesses in many ways – a key example being long-term cost savings. Tsubaki chains save money, for sure, but the company’s cam clutch solutions offer the same great advantage. These components are produced with the help of years of engineering experience.

Cam clutches are designed to transmit torque in one rotational direction while overrunning in the opposite way. They are ideal for many workplace needs.

A convenient Interchange Tool

Cam clutches are built by the Tsubaki crew to serve as the most reliable and efficient solutions, saving money and operating smoothly even in challenging environments. The company offers a broad selection of cam clutch solutions for various applications. Since searching for the appropriate option can be difficult, the Tsubaki website has a convenient Cam Clutch Interchange Tool. Visitors can save time and effort by inputting competitors’ product information into the Interchange Tool to find the Tsubaki equivalent.

The three most common applications for these cam clutch solutions:

  • Backstop. Backstop cam clutches are designed to prevent reverse rotation of drive shafts, usually in gear reducers and conveyor systems. As the component’s inner race overruns freely in one direction, the outer race remains stationary, while automatic clutch engagement halts reverse rotation. This prevents all damage to pricey equipment.
  • Indexing. A crank motion mechanism offers reciprocating movement to a clutch’s driving race in indexing applications. The motion turns one-directional due to clutch driving in the forward stock and overrunning on the return stroke.
  • Overrunning. Tsubaki cam clutches overrun at inner or outer race during the bulk of the operating time, but they are intermittently required to lock up and drive. These applications typically require a two-speed drive with an electric and gear motor connected to a single shaft. The clutch engages as the gear motor drives at a low speed, and it overruns as the electric motor goes at a high speed. This allows the clutch to switch efficiently and automatically between the different speeds.

With Tsubaki cam clutches, customers always get efficient performance that saves money.
