Triboelectric flow monitor from Auburn Systems

Auburn Systems’ triboelectric flow monitors can help prevent overflow of combustible dust and other hazardous materials in the workplace. Available in Canada through Firing Industries, these critical devices operate as a backup to more conventional pneumatic conveying systems, helping to prevent dangerous and costly disruptions.

When indicators fail

Fill-level indicators alert users to excess dust in the atmosphere in manufacturing facilities, but they are not infallible. Failure of such an indicator could be catastrophic; it could lead to disruptions, blockages or overflow. So Auburn’s triboelectric flow monitor should be there to take over in such a case.

Auburn’s monitors measure airborne material with electrically isolated metal probes that are inserted into ducts or pipes. A pico amp signal generated by the material indicates how much material has passed through and transmits that information into Flow/No Flow reading or a More/Less Flow reading. This way, the user knows whether the flow rate has decreased or stopped, which could be an indication of a blockage from an overflowing bin, for example.

Users can also configure the monitor for different periods of material flow, which would enable technicians to catch a problem and fix it before it becomes worse.

Installing a triboelectric flow monitor from Auburn can help prevent problems, or call attention to them before they turn into emergencies. This is a good way to make an industrial facility a safer and smoother operation.
