The Turcon Varilip rotary seal by Trelleborg

Daemar Inc. carries Trelleborg Seals products among its vast range of essential components for industry, including a selection of rotary seals designed specifically to meet the demanding needs of the semiconductor industry. The newest member of this family is the Turcon Varilip PDR seal. (PDR stands for Performance, Durability, Reliability.)

Developed to optimize equipment performance in this sector, the Turcon Varilip meets these challenging requirements as a precise and dependable sealing solution.

Pushing the boundaries of possibility

The Varilip fulfills the expectations of a semiconductor industry that constantly pushes the boundaries of what is possible in the fast-paced world of technology. A key advantage of this seal is its capability of functioning at high speed and under demanding conditions – achieved with high-performance materials like PTFE, which are retained mechanically in a precision-machined metal body and resists chemicals, high temperatures, and aggressive media. This seal is also designed to offer low-friction and stick-slip-free running, which helps to lower temperature generation, allow higher peripheral speeds, and reduce power consumption.

Tests have shown that the Varilip needs only about half the torque of a radial oil seal when running in Fomblin oil, frequently used in semiconductor vacuum pumps. This results in long service life, with a maximized mean time between planned maintenance and higher productivity. Other advantages of this rotary seal from Daemar:

  • Low friction, to facilitate reduced power loss and friction-induced heat.
  • Unique self-lubricating hydrodynamic feature, to reduce friction more.
  • Advanced geometrics, engineered to give excellent performance in virtually every high-speed rotary situation.
  • Multiple lip configurations, to address most sealing requirements.
  • Material that is compatible with almost all media.
  • High-speed ability of up to 100 metres a second.
  • Operating temperature range from -60 to 200 degrees Celsius.
  • Unlimited shelf life, with no special storage requirements.
  • Options available for dry-running applications and soft shafts.

A must for the semiconductor sector, the Varilip has a unique design, stellar performance, and high resistance to challenging conditions, all of which make it ideal for any task requiring a high-performance seal. It is especially appropriate for design engineers seeking long-lasting, dependable seals.
