The Titan chain, available from Tsubaki of Canada

As a leading provider of roller chains, Tsubaki of Canada aims to keep up with the latest innovations and advances. One product that stands out among those of competitors as a cutting-edge development is its Titan series of chains. This line of strong, durable chains is specifically built to withstand the pressures of high-speed and harsh environments.

Limited wear and tear

A result of Tsubaki’s own research and development efforts, the Titan series of chains has all of the best features of the company’s standard ASME/ANSI chains, but with added improvements. Its specially coated pins have a harder surface and lower friction, designed to minimize the wear between the pin and the bushing area. Not only does this increase the wear life of the chain substantially; it also guarantees good performance even in work environments with a high level of debris.

Other beneficial aspects of the chain’s construction include:

  • Zinc-coated pin link plates and black oxide roller link plates. These plates add another layer of protection for corrosion resistance.
  • Solid lube groove bushing. Titan chains use Tsubaki’s own PerforMax bushings, which are cold-formed from solid steel. Their round shape and solid construction improve surface contact between pins and bushings, and lube grooves on the inner surfaces retain oil at the point of contact. This specialized construction ensures longer wear life.
  • Ring coined connecting links. The fatigue strength and durability of the chain’s connecting links come from Tsubaki’s unique ring-coining process, which creates positive compressive stress around the pitch holes, thus counteracting shock loads. Another feature that ensures minimal wear even in harsh applications.

Tsubaki produces Titan chains in single or multi-strand options, with sizes ranging from 35 to 240 and various attachments. They can be custom-made for specific applications, and other Tsubaki roller products are compatible with them.

The Titan series has already been proved to outperform others. Tests have demonstrated that Titan chains take longer to reach wear in 0.5 per cent of chain length per foot than standard Tsubaki chains do – and several times longer than extended-life chains from competing manufacturers.
