The Duratec Airline piping system from IPEX

IPEX supplies innovative piping solutions for industrial environments, such as the Duratec Airline piping system. This is a compressed-air and inert-gas system built to save time and money in many areas, such as industrial plants and food-processing companies. Compressed-air systems must function at peak capacity, or businesses lose money on wasted energy, compressor wear, and high operating and maintenance expenses. Available in three sizes (½ an inch, ¾ of an inch, one inch), the Duratec Airline solution prevents these issues.

Longer life, less maintenance

Constructed of an inner and outer layer of PE-RT (Polyethylene of Raised Temperature) sandwiched over an aluminum core, Duratec Airline blends the strength of metal with the corrosion resistance of plastic. This makes the piping system perfect for many applications, like compressed-air supply, hand-tool operation, valve actuation, bulk inert-gas delivery, robotic installations, and carbon-dioxide delivery for carbonated drinks. This is a tough, long-lasting system that can tackle extreme requirements, while saving time, labour, and money for users.

Duratec Airline is unique in the North American market, as IPEX is the first company to produce and sell a composite piping system like this. Here are the three main ways that this solution saves money and time:

  1. Lower installation costs. Since it is quicker and easier to install than standard metallic compressed-air systems are, Duratec Airline reduces construction costs. No extra training or equipment is necessary, nor is soldering or threading; it is ready to install upon delivery. It is available in 100- or 300-foot lightweight coils, so users can install longer piping runs with fewer joints.
  2. Lower operating costs. Because long runs need fewer couplings between pipe lengths than in traditional metal air systems, leaks can occur in fewer spots. For top joint integrity, the rugged nickel-plated brass fittings have double O-ring seals.
  3. Longer compressor life, with less maintenance. Duratec Airline reduces energy loss from leaks, which decreases compressor wear and tear, resulting in years of reliable maintenance-free service. This system never rusts, scales, or pits, which eliminates contamination, and ensures the highest level of cleanliness from the initial setup. Fittings are bagged individually, and pipes are purged with nitrogen.
