Teledyne Hastings' selection of tubes and sensors

Durham Instruments teams up with many major manufacturers to supply world-class test and measurement solutions for work application, like Teledyne Hastings. An American company with a global reputation for a wide range of high-quality vacuum and gas mass-flow instrumentation, Teledyne Hastings makes three categories of thermocouple vacuum gauge tubes and sensors. The selection includes the original DV-4 and DV-6 models of these sensors and tubes, in addition to the DV-5 range – all of which offer accurate measurement and vacuum control.

High reliability, long lifespans

The tubes and sensors are versatile devices that work for applications like vacuum insulators, freeze drying, transformer oil refills, and pharmaceuticals. Durham Instruments deems them suitable for use in the general manufacturing, aerospace, automation, food-processing, forestry, education, medical, military, mining, packaging, power-generation, alternative-energy, and transportation sectors and in research and development.

These precision sensing devices have been acclaimed for their high reliability for more than six decades of international success. Teledyne Hastings thermocouple vacuum gauge tubes and sensors are fully compensated for temperature and rate of temperature change, and each one uses the rugged, but sensitive and time-tested, THI thermopile sensor. The short, firmly connected thermocouples have no suspended welds to external heaters. Proprietary tooling and process-control improvements expand the lifespans of these products.

Dependable and repeatable, these instruments have stable calibration, rugged construction, and non-contaminating design as key benefits. The standard gauge tube has a hermetically sealed base with glass, stainless steel- and nickel-plated components, and a colour-coded label. It operates at a maximum temperature of 100 degrees Celsius and has a maximum pressure of 150 psig. The three series of thermocouple vacuum gauge tubes and sensors that are available from Teledyne Hastings:

  • DV-4 range. These are recommended primarily for HVAC, refrigeration, transformer-oil, and laboratory scenarios. Pressure ranges from 20 to 0.1 Torr.
  • DV-5 range. Most effective for semiconductor processes, lighting, plasma coating, sputtering, and laboratory applications. Pressure runs from 0.1 to 0.0001 Torr.
  • DV-6 range. Designed for semiconductor processes, cryogenic tanks, plasma coating, load locks, and laboratory tasks. Pressure goes from one to 0.001 Torr.
