The global market for temperature sensors is growing rapidly, according to Thermo-Kinetics Vice President Jeff Dello.

Thermo-Kinetics Measurement & Control has been a leader in providing temperature sensors for decades, always working closely with industrial clients to find the right process control and measurement solutions, from thermocouples and resistance temperature detectors (RTD) to thermowells and protection tubes.

Thermo-Kinetics Vice President Jeff Dello recently took part in a brief interview with Redwire, to discuss the company and the future of the market for temperature sensors.

Redwire: Can you talk about your principals and which industries you operate in?

Jeff Dello: For over 45 years, we have been serving steel, oil and gas, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, water and wastewater, packaging, power, and the pulp and paper industry with our manufactured sensors.

Talking about our principals, we are exclusive distributors for Honeywell in Ontario, Quebec, and Manitoba, and we enjoy diamond distribution status. We are also top distributors for Lumasense and Control Concepts.

RW: What are your market predictions for thermocouples and temperature sensors in Canada? What are your thoughts about the manufacturing industry in Canada?

JD: Manufacturers have always been major contributors to this country’s economy, as they create many jobs and contribute to ten per cent of Canada’s total GDP. The international temperature sensor market is expanding very quickly, at a compound annual growth rate of 11.7 per cent. By 2020, the global market for temperature sensors will generate around $8 billion in revenue, according to reports I’ve seen. Thermocouples and RTDs are the fastest-growing segment and will likely dominate this market. We are proud to be operating in the right segment. We have an in-house manufacturing and calibration facility in Mississauga, where we manufacture thermocouples and RTDs.

RW: The company website states that the manufacturing is ISO 9001:2015 certified. Do you also follow some other standards?

JD: We are committed to quality control. Our Quality Management System is ISO 9001:2015 certified. Our Calibration lab is also ISO 17025 accredited. We are CSA approved for hazardous locations, and we also have Measurement Canada approval for custody transfer for natural gas.

RW: Do you belong to any industry associations?

JD: Yes, we are members of CPCA (Canadian Process Control Association), CHOA (Canadian Heavy Oil Association), and ISA (International Society of Automation).
