Continental makes belt conveyor pulleys.

Continental Conveyor Ltd. has been a leader in the production of systems and equipment for handling bulk materials for nearly six decades. The company manufactures a broad range of material-handling products and components to meet virtually any need. One example is standard and custom industrial belt conveyor pulleys. The Continental crew designs and makes these pulleys to suit every individual need that a customer may have, and they come in three standard designs.

Special self-cleaning pulleys available

Customized units are also available, aside from the standard models. Continental can make modifications to its standard drum-style belt conveyor pulleys to satisfy specific client requirements. The team can also engineer special self-cleaning pulleys for any application. For example, one customer received a custom pulley with stainless steel construction and a fully open design. The company has the skills, training, and experience to make belt conveyor pulleys that suit any workplace scenario.

A standard lineup of welded steel conveyor pulleys is available in various types of designs. Options that Continental provides for standard belt conveyor pulleys include the following:

  • Lagged wing pulleys – perfect for tasks in which a buildup of material between the pulley and conveyor belt is causing belt misalignment and excessive wear. Also very suitable for cases that require higher traction capacity between belt and pulley.
  • Spiral drum pulleys – to help reduce belt wear and misalignment, in addition to the potential for material buildup between the belt and pulley in applications in which self-cleaning wing pulleys are not feasible. Every unit is formed by a pair of vertical steel flat bars, wound helically around a drum.
  • Spiral wing pulleys – recommended for applications that need reduction in material buildup between pulley and belt. These units have self-cleaning features that start when rotation begins and material is discharged to both sides of the conveyor. Each pulley is made by helically winding a pair of flat steel bars around the wing pulley. This design minimizes belt misalignment, reduces belt wear, and is available in either a flat or crown face in most standard sizes.
