The ODVA association welcomes HARTING as its new Principal Member

HARTING Canada is part of an international parent company that leads the world in connectivity solutions. Today, the HARTING Technology Group announced that it has become a Principal Member of ODVA, a global industry association based in Ann Arbor, MI. This new role reaffirms HARTING’s commitment to the advancement of industrial Ethernet.

Other Principal Members of this standards-development organization include CISCO, Rockwell Automation, Endress+Hauser, Honeywell, Schneider Electric, OMRON, and other world-renowned automation companies.

Meeting the demands of IIoT

ODVA’s mission is to advance open, inter-operable information and communication technologies through such core interests as the media-independent Common Industrial Protocol (CIP) and its network adaptations, like EtherNet/IP and DeviceNet. HARTING’s promotion into the ODVA leadership group reflects its growth in expertise and dedication to advancing industrial Ethernet and connectivity solutions in the automation sector.

“HARTING has always been a standard setter,” says HARTING Americas president and CEO Jon DeSouza. “It’s in our DNA and part of our core strategy. It started with the invention of the rectangular connector in the 1950s and continues to this day.”

For many years, HARTING has worked to democratize the adoption of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Industry 4.0, with such product lines as T1 connectors. Its new role with ODVA will position HARTING to identify and standardize different technologies and devices that the automation industry will need to implement IIoT successfully.
