Bergen Cable's advanced processes increase the quality of the products it supplies.

Bergen Cable is one of North America’s premier suppliers of industrial cable products and assemblies. But the company’s broad range of products is not the only reason for its success. Bergen employs a wide selection of specialized equipment, material, and secondary processes to make the products it provides the best they can be.

These advanced processes ensure that industrial cable products are always of the highest quality before clients receive them.

From rotary swaging to finishing

Highly skilled staff and specialized machines work together to process raw metals and plastics into these products, including stainless steel, alloy steel, aluminum, brass, nylon, Teflon, and PVC. Bergen Cable has mastered nine types of advanced processes for industrial cable products, which are as follows:

  • Rotary Swaging. In this cold forming process, end fittings are joined to cable and wire rope with a rotary hammer forming process. This method enables tight tolerance, fine surface finishing, and higher breaking strength for cylindrical end fittings.
  • Hydraulic and Pneumatic Crimping. With hydraulic and pneumatic presses, Bergen can crimp end fittings, such as threaded studs, oval sleeves, stop sleeves, button stops, plain balls, and eyelets.
  • Pull Testing. With many United testers and customized digital proof loaders, Bergen conducts pull testing on objects of up to 22,500 pounds.
  • Fused Cut Cable. Using multiple freestanding and tabletop Ewald flash cutters, cable can be cut electrically, cleanly, quickly, and to specific lengths.
  • Precision Machining. Bergen has an in-house machining department that uses three types of CNC machines, as well as many more conventional machines, with strict quality control and short lead times.
  • Coated Cable Stripping. With custom-made stripping machines, Bergen can strip coated cable and wire rope of up to 3/8 of an inch in diameter, to enable assemblies to have their proper holding strength.
  • Part Marking. Bergen employs electromechanical etching, hot stamping, metal stamping, heat shrink markers, and laser marking to identify parts.
  • Custom Packaging. Military-specification packaging is available when necessary.
  • Processing and Finishing. Plating, heat treating, and testing are performed in collaboration with partner companies.
