Rosta is a leader in the development and manufacturing of components for maintenance-free tensioning of belts and chain drives. These solutions eliminate the need for periodic re-tensioning, as they compensate for lengthening over time and belt slip.

The company’s tensioning devices are available with a range of accessories to suit all types of belt and chain drives. They include sprocket wheels, chain riders and tensioning rollers.

Tensioning roller features

Rosta’s tensioning rollers feature high-quality PA 6 industrial plastic and two self-lubricating ball bearings. They are suitable for use in temperatures from -35 to 100 degrees C (for type R), and -35 to 80 degrees C (for type RL). Type R models are available in a range of sizes and are suitable for maximum speeds from 4,500 to 8,000 RPM. Type RL models, designed for light-duty drives, are suitable for maximum speeds up to 6,000 RPM.

Installation

Tensioning rollers can be used with all types of V-belts either on the belt back or inside the belt drive. There are just a few considerations to keep in mind depending on the type of installation. For example, when tensioning from inside of the drive, a deep-grooved pulley should be used on the tensioner to prevent excessive slack beating in extremely long centre distances. When using a tensioning roller on the belt back, the diameter of the roller should be at least 2/3 the diameter of the drive’s smallest pulley, and it should be at least 20 per cent wider than the belt set.
