The TT420 series of temperature sensors by Electro-Sensors, available from Durham Instruments

Durham Instruments is the name businesses count on when they need the peak of measurement instrumentation. Among the manufacturers with whom the supplier partners is Electro-Sensors, Inc., which produces the innovative TT420 series of industrial temperature sensors. These standard devices can monitor temperature on a broad variety of equipment – such as conveyors, bearings, bucket elevators, motors, gearboxes, pumps, turbines, fans, curing ovens, centrifuges, agitators, tanks, and hammer mills.

A rugged and compact package

The TT420 series of industrial temperature sensors is perfectly compatible with standard two-wire 4-20mA current loops and analog inputs. Each instrument combines a sensor, a signal conditioner, and a two-wire loop-powered 4-20mA transmitter together into a rugged and compact package.

The range of machinery on which these devices work makes them highly useful in a wide variety of industries. Durham Instruments recommends them for workers in general manufacturing, aerospace, automation, food processing, forestry, education, the medical field, the military, mining, packaging, power generation, alternative energy, transportation, and research and development.

Electro-Sensors manufactures three models of these industrial temperature sensors. The TT420F mounts onto any flat surface with a #10 machine screw, while the TT420S can screw into any surface with a ¼-inch 28 tap. The third option, the TT420Z, mounts into 1/8- or ¼-inch NPT grease-fitting (zerk) taps. Common features of these three models include the following:

  • loop-powered sensors output standard 4-20mA signal;
  • compatibility with I.S. Barriers, PLCs, meters, and data-acquisition systems;
  • no need for field calibration, as the device is always ready to use right out of the box;
  • easy, straightforward installation; and
  • high accuracy and economy in temperature monitoring.

The TT420 series is also approved to applicable standards by Underwriters Laboratories in the United States and Canada as intrinsically safe for use in Class I (Groups C and D) and II (Groups E, F, and G) when used with an approved I.S. barrier.

Electro-Sensors applications specialists are willing to customize these sensors to fit specific needs of they do not meet individual customer specifications. Adapters and fittings are available as accessories.
