The HVG-2020B vacuum gauge

Durham Instruments supplies a broad range of industrial test and measurement solutions by Teledyne Hastings, including vacuum gauges. The HVG-2020B model is a wide-range, dual-sensor device that represents the next generation in measurement, with its optional touchscreen display, Piezo-based sensor, thermal-based Pirani sensor, and flexible vacuum control among its innovative features.

Flexible, user-friendly and highly versatile, the HVG-2020B vacuum gauge works for numerous applications and industries, such as semiconductor etches, sputtering chambers, load lock systems, process controls and tests, and plasma coating.

With numerous system connections

Other applications for which this device is ideal include rough vacuum monitoring, vacuum metallurgy, thin film coating, refrigeration, air conditioning, freeze drying, and oil reprocessing. Among the numerous user advantages are high accuracy, stable performance, low cost, flexible input and output, numerous system connections, and ease of use.

With two sensors in one small package, the HVG-2020B accurately and confidently measures pressure across seven decades. The Piezo sensor is media-isolated, gas-composition-independent, and periodically zeroed by the Pirani sensor, while an ambient thermal sensor allows the instrument to adjust for temperature – which boosts accuracy in the process. The touchscreen display, free Windows data-acquisition software, and various digital communication paths contribute to the device’s flexibility and user-friendliness. This gauge can function with USB, RS 232 or RS 485 connectors, plus linear or log outputs and graphical displays for logging data acquisition.

Among the technical specifications:

  • Range: 0.1 mTorr to 1,000 Torr
  • Operating temperature: -20 to 70 degrees Celsius
  • Analog output: Voltage – 0-1 VDC, 0-5 VDC, 0-10 VDC linear and log; Current – 0-20 mA, 4-20 mA
  • Input voltage: 12-36 VDC
  • Wetted materials: 304 and 316L stainless steel, glass, Ni, Au
  • Process-control set points: dual TTL (high and low)

This versatile device suits applications in numerous industries. Durham Instruments recommends it for use in general manufacturing, aerospace, automation, food processing, the medical field, the military, mining, packaging, power generation, alternative energy, and research and development.
