The HVG-2020A vacuum gauge by Teledyne Hastings

Teledyne Hastings manufactures many great industrial test and measurement devices that are easily available in Canada through Durham Instruments. These include the HVG-2020A vacuum gauge, which is a media-isolated, gas-composition-independent, piezo-resistive instrument that offers accurate pressure measurement throughout the rough vacuum region. Its benefits include provision of both analog and digital output.

Easy to install, the HVG-2020A is a very flexible device that can easily integrate its output into process control.

A variety of output signals

The user can select from a wide variety of linear analog output signals on this vacuum gauge, making the HVG-2020A the perfect substitute for a capacitance manometer, which can be expensive. The digital output can include RS232 and RS485 via the small jack on the top of the device, and many models also have a convenient USB connection, which simplifies both connection and operation. Free Windows data-acquisition software for data logging is also available, and an optional display can give the user several different points of view or modes of operation.

The vacuum gauge offers several strong user benefits, such as high accuracy, low cost, gas-composition independence, contamination tolerance, and ease of use. Notable features of this instrument include the following:

  • Range from 0.1 to 1,000 Torr;
  • Accuracy of ±0.1 per cent of reading plus 0.5 Torr;
  • Wetted materials – 304 and 316 stainless steel;
  • Touchscreen display and control option;
  • 0-1 VDC, 0-5 VDC, 0-10 VDC linear;
  • 0-20 mA, 4-20 mA linear;
  • Status LEDs;
  • Multiple views, including pressure versus time plot, bar graph, and set point status;
  • NIST traceable calibration; and
  • Certificate and data-sheet option.

A versatile device, the HVG-2020A is suitable for many common applications, such as rough vacuum monitoring, semiconductors, laser systems, chemical research, air sampling, central vacuum monitoring, oil reprocessing, and medical research. Durham Instruments also recommends it for use in the aerospace, automation, food-processing, education, packaging, power-generation, alternative-energy, and transportation industries.
