Tank-Base Protection System

Denso offers a unique Tank-Base Protection System.

Denso North America is a key source of anti-corrosion protection and sealing products for pipeline construction, infrastructure, and other sectors. For instance, the company’s unique Tank-Base Protection System is a proven, powerful solution that is designed to seal gaps to protect tank chimes and bases from corrosion and water ingress.

With the help of Denso’s Densyl Mastic and FB 30 tape, this system can be applied in four easy steps.

For a smooth transition

The Tank-Base Protection System has been designed to comply with the stringent API-653 standard for tank-chime inspection. The Denso team produces this system to protect tank bases from needless water damage and corrosion for many years.

The first step in the application process for the Tank-Base Protection System is to apply Densyl Mastic, for a smooth transition between the tank base and the concrete. The compound should be moulded into a round configuration and applied around and in between the circumference of the concrete base and tank edge, in order to reduce any sharp edges and fill all voids.

Next, the worker applies Denso Hi-Tack tape onto the concrete base, beginning at a minimum of one inch. This tape should be applied circumferentially around the concrete and steel tank base. If an extra layer is necessary to cover an inch or more onto the steel tank base, then the user should apply it with an overlap of at least one inch onto the initial Hi-Tack tape layer.

For the next step, the user should apply Denso FB 30 tape, beginning at a minimum of one inch below the Hi-Tack tape and then proceed circumferentially around the concrete and steel tank base. If it is required, apply a second layer with an overlap of at least an inch onto the first later, to cover a minimum of one inch over the Hi-Tack tape onto the steel tank base. Pressing out and adhering all seams and overlaps are particularly important.

Finally: mix Denso Weathershield 55 thoroughly for an even colour. Apply it with a brush as a topcoat to the FB 30 tape.
