The TORX PLUS Drive System from Stanley Engineered Fastening has earned a reputation for its ability to increase torque transfer, extend tool life and increase productivity on assembly lines. Now these benefits are available in a unique tamper-resistant version of the TORX PLUS Drive System, which can be supplied in Canada through Gould Fasteners.

The details

When combined with a countersunk or button head design, the tamper-resistant TORX PLUS fastener is extremely difficult to remove without the proper tool thanks to its non-symmetrical shape, providing restricted access to any application, which also helps to maintain the integrity of the system. The new tamper-resistant version also offers the same assembly benefits as the standard TORX PLUS Drive, such as ease of installation and increased fastener performance.

Case in point

A manufacturer of power systems for electric vehicles needed a tamper-resistant fastener on the component’s exterior to keep consumers away from its dangerous electrical currents. Using hex and Phillips systems inside the component created debris from camout that could short circuit the system, and they couldn’t provide enough torque to properly seat the fasteners. As a result, the loose fasteners created arcing, which could destroy the power supply. The company needed a better solution, so it switched to the tamper-resistant TORX PLUS Drive System, which eliminates camout and its resulting particulate matter, and increases the amount of torque that can be applied. It also prevents consumers from opening the component and possibly injuring themselves.
