Endress+Hauser will seek LEED Gold green building certification for its new Customer Experience Centre and administrative home in Burlington, ON, part of a bold plan emphasizing sustainability throughout the $28-million facility. Construction starts this fall, with completion scheduled for late 2020.

Endress+Hauser Canada Ltd. will expand its presence with a new $28 million Customer Experience Centre in Burlington, Ont. Not far from the current centre, this 47,000-square-foot, two-storey facility is expected to achieve the LEED Gold certification standard as it functions on a net-zero-carbon and net-zero-energy basis. Features will include a Process Training Unit, calibration laboratory, expanded workshop, and training centre.

Global leader in measurement instrumentation

Planned for occupancy late next year, the new Customer Experience Centre will emphasize sustainability as it delivers a better customer and employee experience. The goal is to create a world-class facility that remains sustainable for decades after it opens.

The Process Training Unit will be a full-sized pilot plant with a broad variety of Endress+Hauser instruments installed, similar to the training units in the company’s Edmonton facility and other plants worldwide. All Endress+Hauser customers and partners will be able to simulate process conditions that would occur in their own facilities as they test products in real-world conditions at the Process Training Unit. This will help them make the right product choices while gaining confidence in using these instruments.

Endress+Hauser Canada employees can look forward to using two cafes, a complete health and fitness room, a wellness room for private time, and a multi-faith prayer room. The new facility will also contain an atrium with a live, full-sized tree for both décor and oxygen, as well as an outdoor terrace for workers and guests. As the new Centre will be located only 400 metres from the current one, employees will have no commuting disruptions.

As for environmental responsibility, the facility will have a reflective roof with double-sided solar panels, plus heat pumps supplemented by a geothermal system.

The new Customer Experience Centre will be about 20,000 square feet larger than the current one, reflecting the company’s fast growth in the Canadian market and its status as a global leader in measurement instrumentation, services, and solutions for the process sector. Both locally and globally, Endress+Hauser operates on the philosophy that enhancement of the customer experience is a key factor in its success.
