Sugatsune Canada and NSF certification for food-production facilities

Many Sugatsune products are NSF-approved.

The NSF, or National Sanitation Foundation, was founded to test and enforce protocols for national public health and safety to encourage consistent sanitation practices internationally. With 504 items that are NSF certified, Sugatsune ensures that food- and air-sanitation measures, such as quality materials, are implemented in our hardware. As indicated by NSF: “The NSF mark is your assurance that a product has been tested by a trusted independent certification organization. It is valued by consumers, manufacturers, retailers, and regulatory agencies worldwide.” Product categories with the NSF mark, which has been in practice since 1944, have expanded to include these hardware components:

Bar Latch

The BLL series consists of spring-loaded bar latches of varying sizes, made of 304 stainless steel in polished finish. The latch bolt snaps into the strike to prevent accidental release. The latch bolt is released only by a push of the tab on the strike. This ensures a secure closing of doors in commercial food-service equipment.

Catch

The MC-MSH series comprises sealed magnetic catches made with silicone rubber, neodymium, and 304 stainless steel. It has strong magnetic force and may be combined with stainless steel or plastic sealed optional counterplates. Its blue finish makes it easily detectable in the event of foreign material accidentally falling into food products. Also, contaminants, such as mould, are more easily visible than they would be with other coloured materials.

Door Pull

Made of ABS, the AT/S series includes recessed pulls that may be used to snap into sheet metal. With a large opening, convenient for gloved hands, these pulls may be installed in food equipment, such as carts.

Drain Spout

The AE-DH series consists of funnels made of 304 stainless steel, due to its anti-corrosive properties. In satin or polished finishes, the AE-DH tapers to a ring, with a smaller diameter, to target disposal of smaller objects, such as drinks.

Grommet

The AN-DH and AN-LH series are round multi-purpose grommets made of 304 stainless steel and available in gold, mirror or satin finishes. The AN-LH series ring depth is shallow, while the AN-DH series ring depth is deeper. The AN-KH series comprises square multi-purpose grommets made of 304 stainless steel in satin finish. For a secure base on counters or furniture components, these grommets are a sanitary long-term solution.

Handle and Knob

The FT series of handles is composed of 304 stainless steel. The FT-110S has a satin finish, but the other five lengths have a mirror finish. With either one or two screw fix options at each base, these handles provide secure gripping with adequate depth.

Hinge

The HG-IT series of torque hinges may be used for holding monitors or displays in desired positions. There is a free movement or friction torque type for controlled movement, with two cover plate sizes available to place on each hinge leaf for a smooth finish. Operating temperature for this hinge is between -10 to 50 degrees Celsius (14 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit).

Hook

The UJ series of swing hooks is made of 304 stainless steel in satin finish and is available in two sizes. Its 360-degree rotation and 180-degree swivel allow for versatile functionality and installation, such as front-, side-, or under-mounting. A large hooking radius and inwardly curved end allows for the secure hold of objects such as industrial kitchen tools, with a weight capacity of 6.7 kg (14 lbs.) or 8.9 kg (19 lbs.).

Lid Stay

The LK series of spring loaded lid stays has lift assist and holds the door in the opened position for upward or top opening lids. These lid stays are made of 304 stainless steel in satin finish, are non-handed, and may be installed individually or in pairs.Ideally used for wooden or acrylic doors, these lid stays have an extended force of up to 3.6 kg and a compressed force of up to 8.5 kg.

Wire Mesh Air Ventilator

Proper ventilation is vital in food-production facilities to limit condensation (which may cause mould), pest contamination, grease, and odours. Natural ventilation assists areas where not a lot of heat or steam is generated, but mechanical ventilation is also needed for adequate air flow. The SAM and SAD series of ventilators is made of 304 stainless steel with 0.4-mm-diameter mesh wire holes.
