John Brooks Company recommended an E/One pump station for the task.

John Brooks Company Limited backs its reputation with a long history of customer success stories. In one case, a trailer park was looking to install a new wastewater collection system designed around a single pump station that could deliver wastewater to a treatment plant located roughly one kilometre away.

The John Brooks Company team solved the issue with an Environment/One (E/One) four-pump, prepackaged submersible-pump station, which lowered service and maintenance costs while saving on installation.

A consistent flow rate

This customer wanted to raise the population of the trailer park. But the site was using a conventional sewage lagoon, and a population increase would make the current system insufficient. Making the lagoon bigger would use up valuable property and hike the park’s operational expenses and regulatory responsibilities. For a better solution, the mobile-home site turned to an application expert at John Brooks Company.

The application expert noted that the new solution needed a pump that could deliver a low flow at a relatively high head while pumping solids-laden wastewater. Most pumps struggle with this application. His recommendation: an E/One prepackaged Model WH484 station containing four Extreme Series grinder pumps inside an open wet-well tank – semi-positive displacement units that would develop a relatively consistent flow rate at high heads.

The pumps, motor controls, and level-sensing were integrated into a compact unit, simple to remove for service. The system ground solids into fine particles that could easily pass through the pumps, check valves, and small-diameter pipe lines – even plastic, rubber, fibre, wood, and other objects not typically found in sewage. The park could adapt the ¼-inch discharge connection to any piping materials that met local code requirements. E/One had custom-designed the internal check-valve assembly, located in the grinder pump, for non-clogging, trouble-free operation. The pumps were activated automatically and ran for very short periods; electrical consumption of the pumps was low and would vary with actual water consumption.

The result: another John Brooks Company customer satisfied with an ideal solution.
