gas analyzers

Endress+Hauser now is the exclusive sales and service source for SpectraSensors gas analyzers. Its gas analyzing technology plays a critical role in verifying that the contaminant levels in natural gas are below the maximums set by regulators and pipeline operators.

Endress+Hauser Canada Ltd. now is the exclusive sales and service source in this country for gas analyzers from SpectraSensors. As a leading supplier of measurement instrumentation and services, Endress+Hauser will be providing solutions tailored to every application involving measurement of contaminant levels in operations, refineries, and chemical facilities that process gas and natural gas.

Three main optical technologies

Texas-based SpectraSensors is an Endress+Hauser subsidiary. Its gas analyzers use three main optical technologies to measure gas concentrations like H2O, C2H2, NH3, H2S, CO2, and O2 in hydrocarbon gas applications: tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy, or TDLAS; Quench Fluorescence; and Raman Spectroscopy. SpectraSensors introduced TDLAS into the natural-gas industry more than 10 years ago, and this analytical technology has proven extremely effective for measuring contaminants because of its quick response rate and durability. The analysis component of these technologies is a beam of light that never degrades, as it does not contact the gas directly.

These gas analyzers have a rugged nature that makes them suitable for use in natural-gas pipelines with minimal maintenance, no cross-interference, and no detrimental effects from glycol, methanol, amine, or H2S in gas streams. No field recalibration is necessary. Water, carbon dioxide, and oxygen at trace levels in natural gas can corrode pipelines, but SpectraSensors analyzers help to establish the required level of processing to make the gas safe for pipeline transmission by identifying the level of contamination. And the gas can be analyzed again when it reaches the custody point of a mainline pipeline system, to make sure it complies with the regulatory standard for onward transmission.

In assuming the role of the single accountable contact point, Endress+Hauser helps customers choose the right SpectraSensors analyzers and the appropriate sensitivity level for constantly accurate readings of moisture, hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide, oxygen, acetylene, ammonia, and other kinds of analyte. Assisting the selection process are the company’s local personnel, factory-trained in innovative Process Training Units, bilingual phone support, and onsite commissioning, maintenance, and repair; they also help customers incorporate data streams from analyzers into Internet infrastructures.
