The Brüel & Kjær 2245-W sound-level meter

Brüel & Kjær test and measurement solutions are available in Canada through Durham Instruments, including the 2245-W sound-level and vibration meter. This device comes with a complete, focused tool set for monitoring occupational noise-related concerns like noise-exposure surveys and risk mitigation for noise-induced hearing loss. The meter has the durability for virtually every work environment, and it works with the accompanying Work Noise Partner mobile app that provides a full implementation of job-based noise-exposure assessment.

Ensure compliance with regulations

Among the features of this instrument are a colour LCD screen with a bright, clean layout, showing the most important data with a clear indication of measurement status with a colour header, and a measurement-status light ring visible from any angle. The 2245-W meter also has a built-in Li-Ion battery that usually provides more than 14 hours of Wi-Fi-enabled power, 16 gigabytes of built-in storage for measurements and annotations, integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy for connection to mobile and computer apps, and a single, weatherproof USB-C connector for charging and data transfer.

The user downloads Work Noise Partner to a Smartphone and then can control all app capabilities wirelessly. This app organizes measurements into tasks and exposure groups while enabling workday noise-exposure calculations, and a task duration is assigned to calculate a dose. Images, text and voice notes, and videos can be embedded with the measurements via the app interface. After the survey is completed, one can transfer the information to a PC easily. The software is preconfigured with all of the required tools to minimize the need for extra training.

The most common user scenarios for the 2245-W include task- or job-oriented noise-exposure surveys according to ISO 9612, prevention of hearing loss, managing noise exposure, ensuring compliance with regulations, and measurements for hearing-protection selection. To add other task-focused capabilities for other applications, users can add other app licences to the meter, including Exhaust Noise Partner and Enviro Noise Partner.

Durham Instruments deems this versatile product suitable for the general manufacturing, aerospace, automation, food-processing, forestry, medical, military, mining, packaging, power-generation, alternative-energy, and transportation sectors.
