The Brüel & Kjær HBK 2255 sound-level meter
Brüel & Kjær makes its measurement products accessible to Canadian businesses via Durham Instruments. The HBK 2255 sound-level meter is developed specially for measuring building acoustics; it is all that a worker requires for such applications as airborne, impact, and façade sound-insulation testing when used with HBK architectural sound sources.
From measurement to final report, the HBK 2255 is a lightweight, robust instrument that is ideal for real-world building sites with more dust and debris than in functioning elevators.
Wireless control through app
This sound-level meter can measure everything necessary for sound insulation, from 1/1- or 1/3-octave band-level measurements to reverberation time measurements with interrupted or impulsive noise signals. Other relevant applications include calculation of sound-insulation results according to national and international standards, detailed analysis of sound-insulation measurement (including manual adjustment of measurement information for theoretical analysis), and preparation of sound-insulation test reports as per standards. Durham Instruments recommends the device for use in general manufacturing, education, and research and development.
Connecting the HBK 2255 to the Building Acoustics Partner app allows wireless remote control and complete workflow support. The app also provides total freedom to adapt to onsite conditions and simplifies both reporting and analysis.
The PC version of Building Acoustics Partner is designed for analyzing measurement info and creating reports back in the office – and doing so with high efficiency, with maximum insight and confidence in the data. Users can see measurement info in graphic or tabular form, with level-measurement data that enables fast, easy comparison of source room, receiving room, and background noise levels, plus the variability between positions of the same measurement type.
The Building Acoustics Partner mobile app adds high levels of efficiency and control to sound-insulation measurement. Measurement planning and workflow automation helps to make sure no measurement position is ignored, while simple measurement reuse between partitions helps to minimize the total amount of measurements. Integrated wirelessness in the meter and power amplifier enables full remote control, without any need to run cables under doors. The instrument calculates results automatically, which allows confirmation of compliance with project targets.
