The Brüel & Kjær HBK 2255 sound-level meter

Brüel & Kjær test and measurement solutions are available in Canada through Durham Instruments – including the HBK 2255 sound-level meter. Designed specifically for measuring building acoustics, the device is all that one needs for such tasks as airborne, impact, and façade sound-insulation testing when used with HBK’s architectural sound sources, from measurement to final report. This sound-level meter is a lightweight, robust tool recommended for real-world building sites, where dust and debris are more common than in functioning elevators.

For many sound-insulation applications

The HBK 2255 can measure everything required for sound insulation, from 1/1- or 1/3-octave band-level measurements to reverberation time measurements with interrupted or impulsive noise signals. Among other relevant applications: calculation of sound-insulation results as per national and international standards; detailed analysis of sound-insulation measurement (including manual adjustment of measurement data for “what if” analysis); and preparation of sound-insulation test reports according to standards. Durham Instruments deems the unit appropriate for use in general manufacturing, education, and research and development.

Connecting the HBK 2255 to the Building Acoustics Partner app enables wireless remote control and full workflow support. This app also offers complete freedom to adapt to conditions onsite and simplifies both analysis and reporting.

The PC version of Building Acoustics Partner is designed for analyzing measurement data and creating reports back in the office, and doing so with high efficiency, with maximum insight and confidence in the information. Measurement data can be seen in graphic or tabular form, with level-measurement info that allows quick, easy comparison of source room, receiving room, and background noise levels, plus the variability between positions of the same measurement type.

The Building Acoustics Partner mobile app adds high levels of control and efficiency to sound-insulation measurement. Measurement planning and workflow automation help to ensure no measurement position is ignored, and simple measurement reuse between partitions helps to minimize the total amount of measurements. Integrated wirelessness in the meter and power amplifier allows full remote control, with no need to run cables under doors. Results are calculated automatically, which enables confirmation of compliance with project targets.
