sodial pumps

SOMA’s Sinus sodial pumps follow a design principle that was developed in 1982.

York Fluid Controls is a premier Canadian supplier of pump products, with an unmatched range of products from numerous manufacturers. And the company is always expanding its inventory with innovative new products. Recently, York Fluid Controls acquired SOMA Pumps GmbH’s line of Sinus sodial pumps, with a unique single-shaft design and no timing gears.

Based in Abstatt, Germany, SOMA Pumps was founded by Manfred Sommer, who developed the Sinus principle in 1982 as a way to handle product more gently. The Sinus sodial pump is one of the best pumps available for handling large solids and shear-sensitive liquids without any damage.

Unlimited guarantee for covers, housing

What distinguishes these Sinus sodial pumps is the single-shaft design. Other manufacturers’ lobe pumps each require two shafts and twice the number of mechanical seals. The curve-shaped rotor fitted on the pump shaft creates four chambers in which the product is transferred very gently, in a way that does not shear or damage the product. A scraper separates the suction and the pressure side, and the rotor does not run against the housing and the cover – which ensures the neither the housing nor the cover will ever wear out. In fact, SOMA even offers an unlimited guarantee for the housing and cover on each pump.

Various SOMA seals systems are available for these pumps from York Fluid Controls, such as the triple-lip seal system and mechanical seal systems. Each SOMA Sinus sodial Positive Displacement Pump works according to the Sinus principle that Sommer created more than 35 years ago – and that still works well today.

Sinus sodial pumps are Positive Displacement Pumps that are typically available in a stainless steel construction, and their sales prices are even lower than those of pumps with painted power frames. The stainless steel power frame is a standard feature for pumps with sizes from 20 to 25 and for size 40.

With its experience and innovative design principle, SOMA is a welcome addition to York Fluid Controls’ growing family of world-class pump manufacturers like Sandpiper, FLUX, Gorman Rupp, and many others
