Matcon specializes in providing Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) systems for efficient and flexible powder, granule and tablet processing. Available in Canada through Firing Industries, each IBC system features a unique Cone Valve technology, which solves a number of powder flow problems.

A critical technology

Matcon IBCs have a “passive” cone seated within the outlet of the bin. When located on the discharge station, an “active” probe assembly lifts the cone, which creates an annular gap that causes material to discharge under mass flow.

This superb discharging device is an integral part of Matcon IBCs because it helps to prevent bridging, blocking, blend segregation and other traditional powder handling issues. The lifting action of the cone breaks up bridged product and prevents material from rat-holing and causing material segregation.

A broad offering

Matcon IBCs can be manufactured from 316L stainless steel or 304 stainless steel, and are available in a range of sizes and capacities. The smallest size has a 300- to 500-litre capacity, and is ideal for smaller batch sizes or testing purposes. The 1,000- to 2,000-litre model is the most commonly used model, while the 2,500- to 3,500-litre model is better suited for matching larger batch requirements. For non-food, non-hygienic applications that don’t require stainless steel, Matcon offers R Series IBCs, which are comprised of a polyethylene bottle supported in a steel framework. These models are also fitted with Cone Valve technology to protect against segregation, rat-holing and bridging.

Additional details

Matcon supplies IBCs for the processing, storage and transport of bulk material solids, powders, granules and tablets. They are often used when the application calls for the production of multiple recipes, or when users want to increase productivity, or improve product quality and process efficiency.
