Tsubaki's innovative Smart Tooth sprocket

Tsubaki of Canada has a wide product portfolio that encompasses more than its famous chains. Customers also turn to the manufacturer for its line of sprockets, from made-to-order units to double-pitch conveyor ones. The most innovative option is the Smart Tooth solution, a unique design that helps to minimize wear while enabling schedules for drive-system maintenance. These sprockets help to prevent critical component failure and predict required maintenance with Tsubaki’s patented Wear Indicator technology.

Avoid poor fitting and misalignment

This Wear Indicator technology is perfect for applications that involve capital equipment, or in which downtime from equipment shutdown is not acceptable, especially considering the cost of critical drive-system components. Each unit in this sprocket line features strategically placed Wear Indicator pins on one or more teeth. The pins give visual indications of whether the sprocket is within allowable wear tolerance or needs to be replaced.

When chain rollers create induced loads as companies use sprockets over time, this usually diminishes the tooth profile areas on components. Reducing the sprocket tooth profile area increases wear on the drive chain roller, which leads to poor fitting, misalignment, and chain wrap as it relates to the tooth profile. Chain-wear acceleration increases exponentially, which results in lower tension, jumped chains, and/or drive slipping. But users can detect sprocket failure in advance and prevent it with the patented Tsubaki Wear Indicator technology.

There are many other benefits of the Smart Tooth solution, including longer chain life due to predictable maintenance, elimination of guesswork regarding sprocket wear levels, lower overall costs of equipment ownership, prior warning of drive failure, and the ability to plan maintenance as per sprocket wear rates.

The Smart Tooth design is available with various sprocket models, such as ANSI 80 to 240 sprockets, engineering-class sprockets, carbon steel sprockets, and British Standard and double-pitch sprockets with pitches of an inch or more. Tsubaki also offers the Wear Indicator function for both hardened and non-hardened teeth, and for sprockets with no hub or with one-sided or two-sided hub extensions.

For the most innovative sprocket solutions and more, trust Tsubaki.
