small modular connector

HARTING makes the innovative Han 1A series.

HARTING Canada is always up on the latest connectivity trends, like modularization and miniaturization. Both of these innovation factors come into play with the Han 1A series. This small modular connector offers a compact, robust, and universally deployable rectangular system for transmission in all Industrial Internet of Things lifelines.

In August, iF International Forum Design GmbH (the world’s oldest independent design organization) bestowed its prestigious iF DESIGN AWARD on HARTING for the Han 1A series.

Thirty per cent smaller

This unit is 30 per cent smaller than the HARTING Han 3A, formerly the smallest product in the Han connector group. With space-optimized housing and inserts, this small modular connector reflects the ongoing trend of smaller drives that require smaller interfaces. The Han 1A suits all areas in which small drives, sensors, and devices are necessary, due to its modular design and range of applications. Individual components can be assembled quickly to form a connector that is ready to use. The portfolio contains fasteners and other accessories for quick wall mounting, strain relief, or colour-coding pins.

As with all Han-Modular connectors, users can flexibly combine insulating bodies, contacts, housings, and interlocks to interfaces to achieve levels of protection according to the Han 1A’s requirements. For instance, an IP20 solution can be assembled with only two components for use in protected areas.

Only a few additional components are required to make this small modular connector a dust-proof, waterproof solution with single-wire sealing mats. This allows users to feed robotic tools, like grippers, in a pluggable manner. Extra housing elements can extend the protection level to IP65 quickly. Aside from interfaces in IP-protected environments, the Han 1A is compatible with the supply of devices and small actuators in the periphery of production facilities and the connection of tools or small machine modules. Only a few basic elements are required to equip a broad range of applications, even with limited warehouse inventory.
