The Interface 6AXX six-access load cell, available via Durham Instruments

Durham Instruments continues to be Canada’s top source for high-end industrial measuring instruments from a wide range of international manufacturers – including Interface Advanced Force Measurement, a leader in the field in the United States. One of Interface’s most impressive measuring instruments is the 6AXX series of six-access load cells, which are designed to measure force and torque in a variety of different directions.

Simultaneous measurement of forces

With the 6AXX six-access load cell, users can measure forces simultaneously along three mutually perpendicular axes, as well as three simultaneous torques along the same dimensions. The instrument has six full bridges that provide mV/V output on six independent channels, as well as a 36-term coefficient matrix for calculating the toque value and load on each axis. An optional eight-channel amplifier, Model BSC8, with a USB PC interface can simplify data analysis for users.

The 6AXX is a versatile, highly accurate measuring tool suitable for applications in many industries, such as aerospace, automation and controls, food processing, pharmaceuticals, forestry, education, general manufacturing, healthcare, the military, mining, packaging, power generation, research and development, and transportation.

Interface’s multi-access load cells come in five distinct designs – the 6A27, 6A40, 6A68, 6A154, and 6A175 – with variations in diameter, height, weight, deflection, and protection, and built of either aluminum or stainless steel. Unique attributes include the compact size and the low cross-talk of plus or minus one per cent. Other notable features:

  • Temperature-compensated, ranging between -10 to 70 degrees Celsius;
  • Can operate in temperatures from -10 to 85 degrees Celsius;
  • Maximum excitation voltage of five volts;
  • Maximum error of plus or minus 0.1 per cent FS for both nonlinearity and hysteresis, with same value of RO for non-repeatability and creep in 20 minutes; and
  • Zero balance of less than two mV/V.

About the companies
