slotted shims

Daemar supplies a wide selection of slotted shims, shim rolls and sheets, and plastic shim sheets.

Daemar Inc. is one of Canada’s primary distributors of essential components, including many aligning products – all of which blend the quality and performance that design engineers need with the cost savings that keep companies profitable. This group includes a variety of slotted shims, shim rolls and sheets, and plastic shim sheets.

Custom shims are available to meet the needs of customers performing aligning applications with unique requirements.

Eight types of rolls

Manufactured from 304 stainless steel, DMR slotted shims are available in kits that each contain ten or 20 shims of more than a dozen thicknesses, ranging from 0.001 to 0.125 inches. All slotted shims are permanently etched with thickness and size information to simplify selection; they also have wide slots and extended tabs for versatility and easy installation, and each kit has a sturdy steel carrying case to help with organization, storage, and transport. Six types of slotted-shim replacement packs are available too.

Plastic shim sheets are recommended for applications in which corrosion is a potential hazard, and they are conveniently colour-coded. All are 20 inches long; widths range from five to 20 inches, while thicknesses go from 0.0005 to 0.03 inches, and special slit widths are available on request. Daemar carries 51 types of plastic shim sheets and three sizes of assortment packs.

Daemar can supply eight types of shim stock rolls, each of which is conveniently packaged in an easy opening box, which is well-labelled for easy part identification and simple to store and transport. Users can easily stamp, bore, cut, mill, shear, or drill shim stock for any application, and it is precision-rolled to ensure accuracy. Widths run from six to 12 inches; thicknesses go from 0.0005 to 0.032 inches. Variations include:

  • Stainless steel. Slightly magnetic, due to cold rolling.
  • Brass. Cold-rolled to a ½ hard temper.
  • Steel. Stiff and springy; useful when hardness is needed.
  • Nickel. 200-grade annealed material.
  • Aluminum. Minimum aluminum content of 99 per cent.
  • Blue-tempered. 1095 high carbon-spring steel.
  • Annealed steel. Heat-treatable high-carbon steel.
  • Copper. 110 alloy material.
