Bergen uses various secondary processes.

Bergen Cable has grown into a leading cable and wire-rope provider since 1942, with an unmatched product range. A major advantage of working with this supplier is its capabilities when mixed with various secondary production processes. The company offers pull testing, crimping, and more with its wide inventory of specialized material and equipment. With these advanced, value-added operations, clients have come to expect the height of quality from Bergen solutions.

The nine process types

Management at Bergen understands the value of a stable, veteran operations team, and the average tenure of Bergen’s employees is more than 20 years. The company combines a well-trained, highly skilled staff with specialized equipment to process raw metals and plastics into superior products, using stainless steel, alloy steel, aluminum, brass, nylon, Teflon, PVC, and other malleable material. Bergen can leverage these nine types of secondary processes:

  • Coated cable stripping – coated wire rope or cable stripped up to 3/8 of an inch in diameter with custom-made stripping machinery, resulting in proper holding strength in assemblies.
  • Custom packaging – military-specification packaging, tailored for specific requirements.
  • Fused cut cable – cable cut electrically, cleanly, quickly, and according to specified lengths, with multiple freestanding tabletop Ewald flash cutters.
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic crimping – crimped end fittings with the help of hydraulic and pneumatic presses. Among the examples: threaded studs, oval sleeves, stop sleeves, button stops, plain balls, and eyelets.
  • Part marking – parts marked for identification with electromechanical etching, hot stamping, metal stamping, heat shrink markers, and laser marking.
  • Precision machining – fast turnaround prototyping and components engineered for unique or demanding use cases, by the Bergen in-house machining department.
  • Processing and finishing – plating, heat-treating, and testing conducted by the Bergen team, in collaboration with partnering organizations.
  • Pull testing – pull testing performed on cable assemblies with a breaking strength of up to 22,500 pounds, by Bergen’s United testers and customized digital proof loaders.
  • Rotary swaging – affixing end fittings to a cable or wire rope with a rotary hammer cold forming process. Rotary swaging by Bergen offers tight tolerance, fine surface finishing, and higher breaking strength for cylindrical end fittings.
