heavy duty ball pumps

Sandpaper makes the HBD2 series of ball pumps.

York Fluid Controls supplies an impressive variety of air-operated double-diaphragm (AODD) pumps in the Canadian market. This lineup includes several models of heavy duty ball pumps, recommended for fluids containing settling, suspended, or floating solids. Sandpiper constructs these highly reliable pumps with top, down, and side porting positions for optimized performance, depending on pumped liquid or installation requirements. Another major advantage of these pumps is their eternally serviceable air-distribution system.

With heavy-duty wear parts

These powerful ball pumps have some exclusive features that make them unique in the Sandpiper portfolio. One example is their heavy-duty wear parts. Among these parts: heavy-duty plunger bushings and actuator pins, designed to withstand severe applications; diaphragm wear pads, installed between diaphragms and outer diaphragm plates, to provide secondary wear surfaces to extend diaphragm life; thicker, more robust wetted castings for additional wear resistance; and heavy-duty weighted check valve balls, 30 to 60 per cent heavier than solid rubber check balls are, to enable more consistent chamber filling.

The multiple porting positions also distinguish these heavy duty ball pumps. The top ported positions are for liquids that contain floating solids, suspended solids, or gases; the discharge port is positioned above the pump centre, for easy evacuation and less buildup of solid material or gas. The down ported positions are for fluids containing settling solids, with a discharge port below the pump centre, to allow solids to settle in the elbow and get discharged. This reduces wear on the diaphragms and associated components. The side ported positions are designed for confined spaces, with ports positioned with the pump centre, to enable installation in small spaces.

Four categories of these heavy duty ball pumps are available from York Fluid Controls. The SB1/SB25 series, the HDB1½/HDB40 series, the HDB2 series, and the HDB3/HDB4 series. All of these variations offer a maximum pressure of 125 pounds per square inch, while their levels of solids handling range from 6.3 to 22.2 millimetres and their maximum flows go from 159 to 1,136 litres per minute. Displacement runs from 0.34 to 7.6 litres.
