Bergen Cable Technology’s website is a great resource for information on ordering and installing its popular Safety Cable. Complete with tips and diagrams, the easy-to-follow guide simplifies the ordering and installation process.

How to order

When ordering a Safety Cable, be sure to choose a length that allows the cable to route through the pattern and then into the tool. Use the following formula to determine the appropriate length: longest pattern length, plus tool nose length, plus seven inches. Once the length is determined, select the nominal cable/ferrule diameter, and the desired material from three options.

In terms of quantity to order, most Safety Cable products, including tools, components and accessories, are available in small quantities — a minimum of 200 pieces — from Bergen Cable’s inventory.

How to install a Safety Cable

Safety Cable installation is easy using the company’s Terminator Tool, and can be completed in one smooth motion. Simply string the Safety Cable through the fasteners, ferrule and tool nose. Next, tension the assembly by wrapping the cable around the tool’s rotary dial, then rotate. Crimp the ferrule and cut the cable flush to the ferrule.

The company’s website features a video with a tutorial to walk the user through installation.

An industry leader

The Safety Cable exists today because Bergen Cable Technology and GE Aircraft Engines saw the need for a safe, cost-effective and easy-to-install fastener retention system. Bergen Cable has been solving problems for its customers for more than 60 years, and providing ordering and installation details on its website is just another way the leading provider of wire rope and mechanical cable assemblies helps its customers.
