Rust-Oleum carries flexible water blockers for basement flood protection

When work facilities are damaged by floods or fire, basements suffer especially. So Rust-Oleum Corporation offers a variety of products to restore damaged basements or protect them from flood damage in the first place. For basement protection, Rust-Oleum offers six powerful, flexible Zinsser water blockers under the Watertite brand. The lineup includes waterproofing paint, primer, hydraulic cement, and other options to protect or restore basements.

Two kinds of waterproofing paint

Rust-Oleum supplies two kinds of Watertite mould- and mildew-proof waterproofing paint: a standard product and the LX latex version. The former has an ultra-low-odour, oil-based formula that blends waterproofing resin with Portland cement for a coating that stops water pressure of up to 34 pounds per square inch (psi) – double the strength of latex waterproofers. It contains a mildewcide that prevents mould and mildew growth for at least five years, making it ideal for many basements and other masonry surfaces. Another advantage: the smooth, non-gritty finish that applies easily to dry or wet walls. This paint comes with a lifetime waterproofing guarantee.

Watertite LX paint has a low-odour, latex-based formula that resists water pressure of up to 20 psi when used on concrete or masonry, whether indoors, outdoors, above-grade, or below-grade. Ideal for basements and other interior or exterior surfaces, this paint has a very smooth, bright white, non-gritty finish that can be applied to dry walls easily with brush or roller. Watertite LX contains a mildewcide that prevents growth of mould and mildew only on the paint film.

Rust-Oleum also carries Watertite flexible primer and finish among its water blockers. This option keeps water out even amidst weather fluctuations, featuring elastomeric qualities and a low-VOC latex formula with Flex Technology, which expands and contracts to keep hairline cracks sealed. The primer is perfect for new and existing exterior concrete and masonry, like stucco, brick, and tilt-up. For full protection, two coats are recommended; one coat merely primes.

Other Watertite water blockers from which customers can choose: hydraulic cement, to seal deep cracks and holes; etch and cleaner, to prepare concrete for waterproofing and painting; and polyurethane sealant for concrete and masonry.
