The JC8000 rugged multi-axis joystick controller

Curtiss-Wright manufactures many innovative industrial solutions that are available in Canada via Durham Instruments – like the unique JC8000 rugged joystick controller. One of Curtiss-Wright’s more recent developments, this multi-axis device is designed for the most demanding operator-control applications in off-highway vehicles, which rely on high strength, reliability, and handle functionality.

The JC8000 has a very robust design for arduous tasks, including three grip options, the HE, AMF, and MG.

Analog or digital outputs

This rugged joystick controller is a versatile tool that suits applications in various industries. Durham Instruments deems the JC8000 suitable for use in general manufacturing, aerospace, automation, food processing, forestry, the medical sector, the military, mining, packaging, power generation, alternative energy, transportation, and research and development.

Available with one or two axis configurations, the JC8000 rugged joystick controller comes with a non-contact Hall Effect sensing system for a maximum lifespan. The compact size, high lever strength, and stellar proportional control make this instrument perfect for skid steer loaders and other physically demanding work conditions.

Among the other key features of the JC8000 joystick controller: analog or digital outputs (PWM or CANbus J1939); “base-only” option, to allow the fitting of custom grips; centre detent, for enhanced return-to-centre performance; easy installation; high proportional control; interchangeability with Curtiss-Wright’s JC600 and JC6000 models; IP66-level sealing above panel, depending on handle type; minimal under-panel depth of 78 millimetres; pivot-point position for minimal grip cable flex; rating for five million cycles; and a variety of ergonomic handle designs.

Curtiss-Wright has also built high mechanical strength into the JC8000 joystick controller, in addition to a reduction in angular deflection that minimizes the wear on base-to-grip wiring – which boosts the instrument’s overall reliability. The device also has Hall Effect sensor technology, which prevents contact wear and offers safety functionality through the dual outputs. The user can set the outputs to positive or negative ramps, or even a combination of both. New models are being planned with higher grip functionality, CANbus interfaces, and mechanical variation.

Joystick controllers by Curtiss-Wright are always top solutions for challenging applications and environments.
