For demanding operator control applications in off-highway vehicles where strength, reliability and handle functionality are important, Durham Instruments has the solution: the JC6000 rugged joystick controller from Penny+Giles. This multi-axis joystick features a compact size, high lever strength, superb proportional control and many other advantages, making it a top choice for use in cranes, loaders, excavators, access platforms, tractors, harvesters and other off-highway vehicles.

Key features

The JC6000 rugged joystick controller is available in one- or two-axis configurations, both packed with desirable features designed to meet the specific needs of each application.

For example, the JC6000 can be specified with a choice of handles and grips to increase the functionality of the operator controls. The selection includes a choice of push buttons, trigger grips, proportional and switched rockers in a variety of different configurations to suit the user’s unique application.

In addition, the user can choose between Hall effect sensors or potentiometer tracks to provide the analogue signals proportional to lever movement. This ensures that the joystick is configured to provide the output signals, directional and centre switching functions, lever forces and handle styles required for the application. CAN output can also be specified on the Hall sensor version for digital communication with vehicle systems.

Many benefits

The JC6000 has earned a reputation for total reliability. Its lever mechanics provide smooth proportional control, while its Hall effect sensors offer contactless, long life operation. If the user selects the potentiometer track option, it features multi-fingered precious metal wipers that give low electrical noise and a long service life.

The joystick can also safely and reliably operate in hostile environments. The Hall sensors option has dual outputs fitted as standard, allowing the signals to be monitored and compared for failure detection in safety critical applications.

Additional benefits include improved performance within the same footprint as the previous model, simple installation and more.
