Rubber heater assemblies lower costs for many applications

Heater assemblies with expanded silicone rubber heaters provide moderate, controllable heat to large areas. Using etched or wire element construction, these heaters — from Minco and available through Mod-Tronic — warm surfaces up to 22 inches by 72 inches at a cost lower than traditional heating blankets, the companies say. 

The heaters are permanently bonded to the mounting plate and can include such accessories as thermal cutouts, fuses and controller electronics. Electrical connection options include leadwires, terminals and connectors. Integrated temperature sensors and controllers provide a complete thermal system in a single package.

The thin profile of the complete assembly is ideal for installations where there isn't space to fit a rod or tube heater and improved heat spreading is required. Overall thickness is less than 0.060 inches (1.5 mm) plus the plate thickness.

The rubber heater assemblies can be used in a wide array of applications. They can be used to prevent condensation in electronics enclosures and large electrical motors; heat vehicle batteries in cold climates; warm IV and saline bags in hospitals; maintain process tanks and containers at operating temperatures; heat spa and massage beds; and warm trays for the food service industry.
