Motor bases are available from Rosta Inc.

As the Canadian affiliate of Rosta, which is respected for offering top technology solutions for businesses worldwide, Rosta Inc. prides itself on its tensioning expertise. This technology is the concept for producing machine elements for maintenance-free tensioning of belts and chain drives. So Rosta offers five types of motor bases in its lineup. Motor bases are self-tensioning motor mounts that support suspension in friction belt drives, and Rosta models offer key benefits over competitors’ tensioning solutions.

Three types of savings

Rosta’s motor bases are two-in-one systems that have motor supports with integrated self-tensioning systems. They create constant transmission of the nominal torque by maintaining optimal belt tension. This tensioning operation leads to three types of user savings:

  • Energy savings – users should inspect rigid motor suspensions and re-tension belts on a regular basis. Rigid suspensions typically an energy loss of about five per cent, since many belt drives can withstand slip loss of only 10 per cent before reducing delivered torque. This energy loss can become costly because it accumulates in the long run. Rosta constructs its motor bases to offer consistent compensation of belt slip.
  • Maintenance cost savings – rigid motor suspensions have time-consuming maintenance processes, which include removing belt covers, checking tensions, aligning pulleys, adjusting motor position, and conducting test runs. But Rosta’s tensioning solutions save time and money because they are maintenance-free.
  • Transmission-belt savings – workplaces frequently employ friction belt drives to drive large inertial masses, such as starting up flywheels for saws, pumps, presses, or stamping machinery. Other motor suspensions lead to excessive stretch and early wear in seatbelts. But Rosta mounts deflect slightly at startup and then swivel back to normal working positions whenever mass rotation is stable. Users can extend belts’ operational lifespans threefold by treating them more gently.

Rosta motor bases can also mount motors up of to 500 kilowatts, which is the equivalent of 750 PS in power. To get an idea of Rosta’s self-tensioning motor bases in action, check out the video below:
