Allemann Transporte reaped immediate benefits from a Rosta solution.

For more than 30 years, Rosta Inc. has provided great technological solutions for Canadian businesses. This continues a tradition begun by Rosta in 1944, and the company continues to satisfy customers around the world – including in Switzerland, where its global headquarters still stand. Several years ago, Rosta came to the rescue of Allemann Transporte, a family business in St. Peter, Switzerland, with new vibration dampers for stationary screening equipment.

Minor tweaks with major effects

Allemann, which leases vehicles and construction equipment, was using the equipment primarily for transporting topsoil. The process involved separating different layers of earth, which caused a heavy impact when the topsoil constantly hit against the screen. Although the machine had eight rubber dampers to cushion the effect, the oscillations were strong enough to affect the steel construction. Eventually, cracks began to form in the base frame, and the company had to reduce the conveying capacity substantially when filtering sticky topsoil with high clay content.

Stronger dampers were needed, so Allemann contacted Rosta after finding the company online. After examining the equipment, the Rosta team replaced the eight rubber dampers with eight of its own Type AB 45 vibration dampers.

Rosta uses maintenance-free elastic joints in its AB 45 dampers. These joints are elements designed to support the freely oscillating vibrating screens in various models. They support the driving forces in the conveying direction and offer good linear guidance. Rosta’s line of AB elements is especially useful in absorbing strong vibration quickly and effectively where the screens discharge.

Once the vibration dampers were installed, Allemann reaped immediate benefits. The vibration in the screener’s base frame disappeared, as the new dampers protected the entire steel construction. Workers could even increase the conveying capacity of the sticky, clay-based topsoil. Other benefits included higher productivity, lower noise emissions, and no more need to reinforce the machine’s base frame.

“Rosta… was the ideal partner for solving my problem,” said Stefan Ambass, the head of Allemann’s gravel plant. “I am extremely satisfied with the fruits of our collaboration.”

Allemann still uses these Rosta dampers today, with success.
